When You Need Sedation Dentistry

March 24, 2017 By thewsi

Sedation dentistry is a growing field that encompasses a range of services. The practice ensures the patient is completely comfortable during their treatment, and allows for a safe way to mitigate pain during complex procedures. Within this latest post, our experts take a closer look at sedation dentistry and its numerous benefits.

What is Sedation Dentistry?

Sedation dentistry involves the delivery of intravenous sedatives for the purposes of calming patients during their dental procedures. The sedation is often completed alongside an anesthetic injection, which temporarily blocks pain impulses within the impacted gum tissue and teeth. This process helps to relax the patient and ensure they complete their procedure without experiencing any trauma or pain.

The Benefits of Sedation

One of the clear benefits of sedation dentistry for the patient is that it can feel to them as if the treatment is over in just a few short minutes. While they are not completely asleep for the procedure, they are mostly unaware of their surroundings. This can leave them in a comfortable, dream-like state that supports pain-free treatment.

A leading advantage of the sedation process for the dentist is that it enables the dentist to ask the patient questions and give them basic commands. If they require a better angle for treatment, they can ask that the patient turn their head slightly to ensure an optimal treatment process. Dentists and patients can therefore achieve effective communication without the patient having to experience the treatment fully.

Lastly, another advantage of the sedation process is that it can be used to calm those who have anxiety about their dental treatments. By undergoing sedation as part of the treatment process, patients will feel completely at-ease within the dental office. This can help patients overcome their fears and achieve their required dental treatment in complete comfort.

What to Consider When Choose Sedation Options

In undergoing complex treatment, it’s always important to speak with the specialist about the options available. Ask them about their sedation work, and their experience. Patients should ensure they’re completely comfortable with all elements of the sedation and should prepare for the process in the weeks before the treatment. For example, they should ensure they have transportation back home from the dental office while their sedation wears off.

Our experts at The Tooth Booth are here to guide you in exploring your sedation dentistry options. To learn more on this process, call us now at (586) 293-8530.

Why Root Canal Treatment is Important

March 13, 2017 By thewsi

The vast majority of people worry about undergoing root canals. While the treatment process might not be a fun experience for those in the dentist’s chair, it’s important to recognize the value that root canals have in preserving your oral health. And so, to help provide important information on this topic, we’re offering insights on the benefits of the root canal process in this latest post.

The Process is Now Deceptively Simple

For trained oral health professionals, the process of completing root canal treatment is now quite simple. The specialist will create a small hole in the tooth so they can access and remove the pulp. They’ll then clean inside the tooth and seal the hole by placing a dental crown over the space.

It Offers Pain Relief

Root canal treatment is often associated with pain, but in most cases the treatment is designed to resolve pain symptoms. An infected tooth can lead to severe toothache, trouble chewing and opening the mouth, as well as swelling in the surrounding tissue. By undergoing a root canal, you can overcome these painful symptoms and begin to go back to your normal day-to-day activities.

It Can Prevent a Tooth From Requiring Extraction

The root canal process can also help save teeth that are on the verge of requiring extraction. A pulp infection, when left untreated, can destabilize the tooth and loosen its placement within the jaw. You can undergo a root canal to remove the infection and minimize the chances of having to have the infected tooth removed.

Root Canals can Enhance Tooth Appearance

Another clear benefit of the root canal process is that it can help you improve the appearance of your tooth. The decay within the tooth caused by the infection can significantly impact its aesthetics. The tooth may crack and appear darker over time. Root canals can be sealed with a tooth-colored bonding material that helps maintain your smile and ensures the ideal appearance.

The Tooth Booth Is Here to Help

It’s the trusted process for treating tooth infections in a range of patients. To learn more on the benefits of root canal therapy, or speak with a specialist on your treatment options, call our team now at (586) 293-8530.

I have been a patient at The Tooth Booth for about 10 years now. While I always thought the prior Dentist did a good job, this new Dentist Dr. Nawar Sileewa has made The Tooth Booth now great! I would highly recommend. They also are very fair priced. While visiting make sure to give Jennifer a hard time. I always do! 🙂

Dr. Booth and his team are fabulous. He is a very knowledgeable Dentist and Orthodontist and takes time to explain what is going on in a manner you can understand and gives you treatment options. I continue to be impressed by his and his team’s level of customer service. From my child’s tooth extraction, teen’s ortho, family dental cleanings, toothaches and Grandma’s crown replacement.. I couldn’t be more pleased with the speed and flexibility of their patient care. I highly recommend Dr. Booth and his team.
